Course information:
This course is open to all Health Care Professionals who would like to learn to use hypnosis safely and effectively, as an adjunct to their clinical work. including doctors, dentists, psychologists, nurses, physiotherapists, qualified counsellors, and allied health professionals who have a reason for using hypnosis in their professional work. If you are unsure whether you fit these criteria please contact Geoff Ibbotson or Ann Williamson with a copy of your CV. This course counts as 36 hours CPD and although there is a core curriculum, delivery and content will be tailored to the participants needs.

The Foundation course is aimed at teaching the basics that health professionals can integrate into their existing clinical work.

Following the foundation training you should feel confident to add hypnosis, including teaching self-hypnosis, to your existing skills in anxiety management. We also introduce the concept and rationale for hypnotic techniques in other conditions on module 2 and 3, so if you are already working with patients with these conditions you should then be able to integrate simple hypnotic and imagery techniques into your work. The evidence base is referred to throughout the course.

With NICE accepting hypnosis as an effective treatment for IBS and with all the mass of evidence for its use in oncology and pain demand for hypnosis is very likely to grow. With the latest adult dental health survey confirming the high levels of dental anxiety in the population, hypnosis can offer a drug-free alternative or an adjunct to standard sedation techniques for patients.
