Cost: £480 (£450 if paid before July 2nd 2012)

Course information: This course is open to all Health Care Professionals who would like to learn to use hypnosis safely and effectively, within their professional domain. This course counts as 36 hours CPD. Relevant research will be highlighted throughout the course.

About the trainers: Dr Grahame Smith uses hypnosis and related techniques to help patients with a range of problems as seen by GPs. He ceased mainstream clinical work in 2009, but remains in contact conducting around 25 GP appraisals per year. He was a GP trainer and educational supervisor for new trainers until 2005. Grahame’s training includes the University of Sheffield Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis. He has taught colleagues on many courses over the years. Recently he was co-presenter for a University of Salford Module 2. Grahame is Immediate Past President of BSCAH and is its Ethical Chair. He is an Assessor for BSCAH Accreditation, and has been an external assessor for the University of Stafford Diploma run by Midlands Branch. He is a Council member of the Hypnosis and Psychosomatic Medicine Section of RSM. When in practice, Grahame had an interest in quality issues and organisational audit. His earlier career includes anaesthesia, part time occupational health, and work in Southern Africa.

Mrs Jacky Owens qualified in1968 as a registered nurse and worked within the NHS for over 40 years during which time she specialised in cancer care, was involved in teaching nurses at university level and still gives guest lectures in cancer care and hypnosis on some nursing MSc courses. Now she runs her own independent company offering a complementary nursing service for cancer sufferers and their carers. She is an Accredited member of BSCAH, currently she is a member of BSCAH Council and serves as Hon Sec as well as serving as Hon Sec of the Northern Counties Branch. Jacky is President of the Section of Hypnosis and Psychosomatic Medicine at the Royal Society of Medicine. Her professional interests are in the holistic support for cancer patients with a particular interest in immune function
