BSCAH National

Online Medical Hypnosis for Healthcare Professionals Autumn 2022 Foundation Training Modules 1-3

When: 01/10/2022
About the training:

Module 1 of our Foundation training gives you the basic skills you need to integrate hypnotic techniques into your clinical work to help both you and your patients with anxiety and stress. Learn about the neuroscience behind the hypnotic response and how words can influence the outcome of any interaction you have with your patients.

Module 2 expands on module 1 and demonstrates ways of working with patients with a variety of problems such as bad habits, phobias and past traumatic memories.

Module 3 expands on module 1 and demonstrates ways of working with patients with a variety of problems such as pain and psychosomatic problems.

There are also various optional specialist modules planned throughout the year that will enable you to expand your knowledge of using clinical hypnotic techniques with children, in obstetrics, PTSD, depression, grief, oncology and terminal care.

Module 1: 1/2nd October 2022 • Module 2: 22/23rd October 2022 • Module 3: 12/13th November 2022

Closing date for bookings:  Tuesday 27th September 2022

The modules may be booked separately but Module 1 must be completed first.
Each module, whether delivered nationally or through the different Branches, covers the same core curriculum and although content may be delivered slightly differently depending on the trainers, the modules are interchangeable. ie you could book module 2 with London and module 3 with the online BSCAH National training or vice versa.

The Foundation course is aimed at teaching the basics that health professionals can integrate into their existing clinical work.

As a safe-guard for clients / patients, we will only train health care professionals who are eligible for membership of BSCAH. If in any doubt please send your CV to

Course Content

Each module will have a taught component, with demonstrations where appropriate, supervised practice, and the opportunity to ask questions pertinent to your professional interest. We aim to ensure that by the end of the course you will feel competent to use your new skills effectively.

The course teachers are all health care professionals, who regularly use hypnosis in their clinical practice. We work closely with our academic colleagues so that we present evidence-based techniques, in a forum which encourages you to build your own individuality into the therapy you deliver.

There will be plenary question and answer sessions at the end of each day, and we will ask you to evaluate each module.

Handouts of notes for each module, including reading lists and references will be available electronically prior to the course and some presentations used will be made available electronically to participants.

Following the Foundation Training you should feel confident to add hypnosis, including teaching self-hypnosis, to your existing skills in anxiety management. We also introduce the concept and rationale for hypnotic techniques in other conditions on Module 2 and 3, so if you are already working with patients with these conditions you should then be able to integrate simple hypnotic and imagery techniques into this work. The course does not lead to qualifications as such but can be allowed towards CPD as we keep a register, evaluation forms and issue an attendance certificate. If you wish to have a university qualification then the Midlands Branch run an Advanced Diploma/BSc Conversion course with the City of Birmingham University. The three module course costs £600 if you are a BSCAH member.
